Spiced Apple Raisin Chunks

6 quarts apples, cut into small chunks
3 tbsp oil
3 tbsp butter or oleo
6 cups water
2 cups raw sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp allspice
2 cups raisins

Heat oil and butter in large kettle or Dutch oven.  Saute apples until they begin to become tender, but not cooked through.  Add remaining ingredients and simmer until apples are cooked and flavors are blended.  Put in hot, sterilized pint jars, leaving 1/2 inch headroom.  Process in boiling water bath for 20 minutes.  Makes about 9 pints.  Try on pancakes, waffles or in ice cream.  Also good with pork.
