Potato Salad with String Beans

2 lbs of small red potatoes, not peeledprov potato salad
1/2 lb string beans
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1/4 cup olive oil
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup parsley
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
 
In large saucepan, cook the potatoes in boiling water for about 15 to 20 minutes, until tender.  Add the string beans and cook another 7 to 10 minutes.  Cut the potatoes into quarters and place in a large bowl.  Mix in string beans.  In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, vinegar, red onion, garlic, and parsley.  Season with salt and pepper.  Pour the mixture over the potatoes and string beans and refrigerate until chilled.  Serves 4-8 people.
